What Are YouTube Ads?

With YouTube ads, you can reach your target audience while they are watching videos or searching on YouTube. Additionally, you only pay when users show interest in your ad.

As one of the most widely used video platforms in the world, YouTube is visited by billions of people. It is also the second most popular search engine globally after Google. Being such a highly used and popular platform, it stands out as an ideal advertising space for businesses and brands.

YouTube Ad Formats

TrueView In-Stream Ads

With this placement option, advertisers’ YouTube ads are shown at the beginning, middle, or end of YouTube videos. Users can skip the ad after 5 seconds. Advertisers are only charged when users watch at least 30 seconds of the ad, or the entire ad if it is shorter than 30 seconds.

TrueView Discovery Ads (TrueView In-Display)

When using display ads, advertisers’ videos appear alongside YouTube videos, on YouTube video pages as a placement, or across the Google Display Network. Similar to the In-Search format, advertisers are only charged when users choose to view the ad.

In-Search Ads

When the YouTube Search (In-Search) ad format is used, advertisers’ video ads appear on YouTube search results pages. Since these ads are charged on a cost-per-click basis, advertisers only pay when users choose to watch the video ad.

In-Video Text Ads

Text-based ads on YouTube are known as overlay ads. They appear at the bottom of the video frame while the video is playing.
